✨ Make Your Personal Statement Stand Out! ✨

A Few Tips To Help...

Whether your deadline is the 15th October or 29th January, I wanted to share some valuable tips on how to make your personal statement stand out when applying for university courses. Crafting a strong statement is crucial in leaving a lasting impression on admissions tutors. Below are some key points to consider:

  1. Keep It General but Course-Specific: Since your statement will go to multiple universities, ensure it's general enough for all applications, while maintaining a focus on why you want to study the specific course. Emphasise your interest in the subject itself, regardless of the university.

  2. Show Genuine Interest: Demonstrate your passion by providing evidence. Mention specific books, lectures, exhibitions, or experiences that inspired you and relate to the course. Avoid referencing overly common or "typical" works; instead, choose those that had a personal impact and connect them to the course you’re applying for.

  3. Highlight Your Strengths: Focus on your key achievements and skills, without overwhelming the reader with a long list. Pick those accomplishments that best showcase your abilities and relevance to the course.

  4. Make It Personal: Let your personality come through. Be authentic and personal in your writing, allowing admissions tutors to get a sense of who you are beyond your grades and extracurricular activities.

  5. Demonstrate Independence: Show that you're prepared for university by mentioning any independent learning you’ve done to deepen your understanding of the subject. This can include online courses, independent research, or projects you’ve undertaken on your own initiative.

  6. Share Long-Term Plans: If you have a clear career goal, share it in your statement. This helps admissions tutors see that you are future-focused and understand how the course will support your aspirations.

  7. Make It Easy to Read: Structure your statement well. Use clear paragraphs and proper formatting to improve readability. A well-organised statement is easier to follow and makes a better impression.

Lastly, make sure to check your personal statement on the UCAS website to ensure that special characters display correctly. This can prevent any technical issues when submitting your application.

I hope you find these tips helpful in crafting your personal statement. Wishing you the best of luck with your application! ❤️

Best of luck, and keep up the hard work!
