A-Level Psychology Paper 2 is tomorrow, meaning you’re nearly past half way, and it’s all about applying what you know with clarity and structure.

Here are three tips to sharpen your answers, boost your confidence, and get exam-ready tonight:

🧠 1. Master Research Methods – It’s Always There

Research methods are everywhere, so this is the safest topic to sharpen up tonight. Make sure you:

  • Know the differences between experimental designs (independent groups, repeated measures, matched pairs)

  • Can explain strengths and weaknesses of each method (e.g. lab vs field vs natural experiments)

  • Understand how to handle ethical issues, variables, reliability, validity, and basic maths skills (like calculating the mean or identifying types of data)

Tip: If a question says “evaluate,” plan 2 developed points: don’t just list strengths.

🧪 2. Structure Application Answers Clearly

Paper 2 includes application-based questions. Here's how to approach them:

  1. Underline key bits of the scenario

  2. Identify what topic it's testing

  3. Match it to a specific theory or concept

  4. Apply it directly using that context

For example, if it’s about reinforcement, name the type (e.g. positive reinforcement) and explain it in the example, not just generally.

📚 3. (FOR AQA) Don’t Forget Approaches + Biopsychology

It’s easy to focus too much on research methods and neglect the rest so tonight, quickly review:

  • Key features of each psychological approach (especially biological, cognitive, and psychodynamic)

  • Biopsychology content like the nervous system, endocrine system, and localisation of function

  • AO1 = Define the concept clearly

  • AO2 = Apply it to a scenario

  • AO3 = Evaluate it with strengths/limitations, research support, or real-world relevance
