🔬 A-Level Biology Paper 1

Links & Useful Bits Inside!

📅 Thursday 5th June 📅

Hello lovelies!

A-Level Biology Paper 1 is tomorrow, so here are a few realistic, last-minute tips that’ll help you walk into the exam calm, clear-headed, and ready to write.

These aren’t just good for Paper 1: they’re solid habits for every Biology paper.

Final Exam Tips

🔍 Highlight command words + annotate everything
Before you answer, underline the command word (describe, explain, compare) and annotate graphs, tables, and question wording. Understanding what they’re really asking saves time, and boosts accuracy.

🧠 Explain properly
If the question says ‘Explain,’ check your answer: does it say why something happens? Does it actually answer the question? This sounds obvious, but it’s where marks are lost most often.

📝 Plan longer answers to avoid waffle
Do a quick brain dump or bullet list before writing extended responses. It keeps your answer structured and makes sure you’re ticking off enough points for the number of marks.

📚 Use your biology vocabulary
These papers are built for you to show off your content knowledge. So avoid vague phrases and use the key terms, definitions, and processes you’ve revised. Think: mark scheme language.

🧪 Identify the topic
Even if a question looks unfamiliar, it’s always linked to something from the spec. Take a breath, read the context, and ask: ‘What topic is this actually testing?’
